From the first initial meeting with Mr Kumar he gave me confidence and made me feel very relaxed when talking about my operation. He informed me as to the operational procedure and after care. I found him to very friendly and very professional. The operation was a great success and I have no hesitation in recommending Mr Kumar to anyone who needs a hernia operation. Thank you very much Mr Kumar.

I chose Mr Kumar following research of his profile and other reviews. At first consultation Mr Kumar asked appropriate questions about my hernia and listened carefully to my replies. He examined me and explained fully the options. He involved me in decision making and we decided keyhole was the most appropriate. Again he explained fully the procedure including possible outcomes and told me what my recovery was likely to consist of. Although explaining all possible scenarios he related these to me as an individual and what I was likely to expect. Mr Kumar gave me some literature about the procedure and what it involved including detail about my condition, the options and recovery after any surgery. He also directed me to website where I could also find information. On the day of surgery at the Spire hospital Norwich he visited me before theatre as did the anaesthetist. The surgery went well and I suffered only discomfort rather than pain while recovering. Mr Kumar visited me before discharge to check I was well enough to be discharged and told me how the procedure had gone. He answered any questions I had and reassured me how I could contact him at any time if I had concerns about my recovery. The keyhole incisions were very neat and I had minimal bruising around the site. I was discharged the same day and suffered mild pain and discomfort for about a week at home which was treated adequately by paracetamol. The incisions healed over quickly. Within two to three weeks I was back to normal, while taking sensible care not to expect too much. My recovery was as Mr Kumar had predicted. I again saw him for follow up consultation six weeks after surgery. He examined me and checked I was happy with the outcome. A very professional surgeon with excellent communication skills. I would not hesitate to consult him in the future should the need arise. .

After deciding, with some trepidation, to have my hernia repaired, and seeing Mr. Kumar for the initial consultation, I recently had the procedure carried out at Spire hospital in Norwich. The operation was straightforward and successful. I found Mr. Kumar, and his team, professional and very friendly throughout, and would have no hesitation in recommending him to others.

Following completion of my surgical training, I was chosen for an overseas fellowship in advanced laparoscopic surgery with Prof. David Watson at Flinders Medical Centre, Adelaide, Australia.

In my work in the NHS, I have led the development of an emergency gallbladder surgery service at the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital, improving patient access to prompt treatment of biliary conditions. Alongside busy clinical work, I am involved in postgraduate surgical teaching and training. My research interests include the management of oesophagogastric cancer as well as biliary and upper gastrointestinal diseases.

I have co-authored a leading textbook for the post-graduate FRCS examination in general surgery and have been an invited reviewer for surgical journals.

In all of my work, my primary commitment is to the patient and ensuring they receive the best possible care.
